A crown allows a tooth to be fully covered in order to restore, protect, or improve its appearance. A crown (or cap) may be recommended for a variety of reasons. When a tooth has a very large filling or cavity, a crown has the ability to fully cover the tooth to protect it from further damage and make it stronger. Also, if a tooth has a crack or has broken, a crown may be recommended to restore it back to its original shape and appearance. Crowns can also be used to reshape and change teeth to improve your smile.

The process of making a crown involves two steps. First, the tooth must be prepared in order for the crown to completely cover the tooth. After this is completed, the crown is made and cemented on to the tooth.

At our office we have the capability to make crowns in a single appointment or two appointments in the same day.  In the past, after the initial preparation stage, a lab would make the crown requiring a temporary crown to be made. This would extend the process for a couple of weeks. At our office, we are able to complete the entire process the same day allowing us to save you the time of an extra appointment and the hassle of a temporary.

Most of our crowns are made of porcelain, enabling us to make your tooth look very natural and your smile beautiful.

To find out more about crowns, give us a call. We will be happy to answer and questions or concerns you may have.
